One of my significant interests/hobbies is automobiles.  Ever since I was a child, I have always paid special attention to cars and trucks. As it turns out, this is one of my favorite things as an adult too! In high school (Brazoswood H.S. Class of '93!!) my "dream car" was a Saleen Mustang 5.0.  Since then my tastes have changed and in some ways matured, but I'm still a "Five-Oh" fan.

My list of automobiles that I owned in my teen/college years is really not very interesting, but I will mention it anyway. I got my driver's license in 1991 at age 16, and my first car was a hand-me-down 1985 Chevrolet Chevette (Chevette, not Corvette) that was previously my mom's car. I decided to sell that car for something with a little more grunt and a lot more interior space, and I purchased a pale yellow 1979 Chevrolet Malibu. This car had a small block V8, which along with other factors including lack of driver maturity led to the car's demise in a ditch behind Brazoswood High School! (Pic1, Pic2) For several months I had no car, and I drove my mom's 1983 Mazda 626, which was a 5-speed. I am grateful for that in the sense that I became very good with a manual trans and began to appreciate the benefits of shifting my own gears. I later was handed down my dad's 1979 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme coupe in early 1992 and I drove this car, which I liked a lot, until 1995 when I bought a 1990 Mazda B2200 pickup to drive to college. One of my regrets is that I ever sold that Cutlass. It would have made an excellent "hot rod" project car, but going to college prevented me from being able to hang onto that car.
